The problem this solves

Telehealth requires informed consent that is actually documented: the nature of remote care, its limitations, privacy considerations, and the patient’s agreement. A verbal "yes" at the start of a call is not a record.

Emailing a consent PDF back and forth puts identifiable health information in transit with no protection and no audit trail.

Why the encryption matters here

The signed consent and the identifying details around it are encrypted client-side before submission. VerifID holds ciphertext only; your practice holds the key.

A consent record is only useful if it is intact and confidential — client-side encryption gives you both without trusting the platform with readable PHI.

How it works

  1. 1

    Build the consent form

Use your own consent language and branding. Add acknowledgment checkboxes and a signature field.

  2. 2

    Send with the appointment

Include the link in the visit confirmation. The patient completes it before the call.

  3. 3

    Keep the record

Decrypt and store the signed consent with the encounter. It was never readable in transit.

Frequently asked questions

Is a checkbox acknowledgment enough for informed consent? ▾

Informed consent needs the patient to have been given the relevant information and to have affirmatively agreed. Separate, un-ticked acknowledgment items for each point, plus a signature and date, create a defensible record. Confirm the specifics with your compliance counsel.

Can I use my own consent wording? ▾

Yes. The form is yours — field labels, acknowledgment text, and branding are all editable.

Does VerifID see the signed consent? ▾

No. It is encrypted in the patient’s browser and only your practice can decrypt it.
